Puppy Health Guarantee
Our 1-Year Genetic Health Guarantee
It is hereby agreed by both parties that the following conditions will be met and that no other warranties or conditions are expressed or implied.
This agreement is for the benefit of both the buyer and seller. It is the intent of the breeder to guarantee that each puppy is healthy at the time of adoption or delivery. Therefore, we ask that the buyer makes every reasonable effort to have the puppy examined by a vet within 3 days of possession. Since we cannot control the environment of the puppy after it leaves the breeder, this agreement is null and void if the buyer is negligent in securing a timely vet visit after bringing the puppy home.
General Agreements:
Any refund shall never be in excess of the original purchase price of the puppy.
Buyer is welcome to pick up their puppy from the breeder and is responsible for all transportation fees of the original puppy and any replacement puppy.
The Buyer must return vet / vaccination paperwork with any puppy or dog that is returned for a replacement puppy.
The Breeder cannot guarantee the puppy’s size, color, or temperament after the puppy leaves the Breeder.
Buyer releases Breeder and Meadow Lark Doodles from any and all liabilities, and/or damages by fault of this dog after the time of sale. These damages include, but are not limited to, destruction of property and/or physical damage to any person or group of people.
Buyer assumes exclusive responsibility for all veterinary care and its associated costs.
Buyer agrees that if for any reason during the puppy/dog’s life, they are unable to keep or provide for their puppy/dog, they will contact the Breeder to take the puppy/dog back or seek our assistance to help in rehoming the puppy/dog.
Buyer regret, change of employment status, allergic reactions, etc are not grounds for a return/refund. We will always take the puppy / dog back, but any potential refund is at the sole discretion of the Breeder.
Communicable Disease Guarantee:
Should the puppy die from communicable disease (this does not include parasites or hypoglycemia) within 14 days of purchase and buyer promptly sought treatment by certified veterinarian, and if said vet certifies in writing that the pup was thought to have been exposed to the disease prior to leaving the breeder, buyer will get a full refund of purchase price of the puppy within 45 days of certification of death or autopsy report.
Note on parasites: Puppies’ immune systems are still developing, causing them to be vulnerable for internal parasites, especially under stress. Moving to a new home, change of diet, and excessive handling are all stress factors that can compromise a puppy’s immune system response against worms, giardia, or coccidiosis. Every preventative effort has been made by the Breeder to mitigate these vulnerabilities. However, you should be aware of them possibly occurring. These conditions are all treatable and are not reasons to warrant a return or exchange.
Genetic Health Guarantee: A warranty against all serious life-altering congenital disease or genetic defects is provided for up to 12 months (1 year) from the puppy’s birthdate.
According to AKC, “Hip dysplasia is a common skeletal condition, often seen in large breed dogs…factors such as excessive growth rate, types of exercise, and improper weight and nutrition can magnify this genetic predisposition.” (Hip Dysplasia In Dogs: Prevention, Causes, Symptoms & Treatment, 2021).
A warranty for moderate to severe hip and elbow dysplasia is provided for 12 months from the puppy’s birth date. This warranty will be terminated and void should the buyer permit the dog to become overweight or joints be over-stressed at any point during the warranty period. If the dog is found to have genetic hip dysplasia during the warranty period, the buyer must provide the breeder with proof of diagnosis in the form of documentation from their vet.
In the case of moderate to severe hip / elbow dysplasia and all other serious life-altering congenital disease or genetic defects, the buyer must provide the breeder with all applicable documents such as vet records, x-rays, and any additional paperwork that substantiate a proof of diagnosis. The breeder reserves the right to have the dog examined (at the breeder’s expense) by a certified specialist before a refund is issued or replacement puppy is given.
